Jeffrey Neuman

Picture
As a director and dramaturg, Jeff has worked for the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, the University of Colorado at Boulder, and the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. He has presented professional papers for the Association for Theater in Higher Education, the American Alliance of Theatre Education, and the American Music Research Center. Recently, his research was acknowledged in Kander and Ebb, a new book in the Yale University Press Broadway Masters series.

His play Zeus’s Women was presented as a staged reading at the Playwrights Showcase of the Western Region in 2007. It was also performed in Salida, Colorado, by Stage Left Theater Company both as part of the theater group’s one act play festival and as their official entry in the Colorado Community Theatre Coalition’s state festival, where it garnered several awards.  Stage Left has subsequently produced another three of his one-act plays.

Jeff also proudly assisted in the development of Paul Revere: The Voice Heard ‘Round the World, a children’s play commissioned by the Denver Center for the Performing Arts’ Wilbur J. Gould Voice Research Center as part of an outreach program developed to teach children about vocal health. In 2000, the play was performed in a number of elementary schools in and around the Denver metro area, reaching over 40,000 students.

Outside of his playwriting activities Jeff has worked in a variety of management and marketing roles – everything from customer service to training & development. In his most recent role as a marketing manager, he developed community partnerships to support literacy initiatives in Colorado and New Mexico and  coordinated in-store events for nationally touring authors and musicians.

He currently lives in Denver with his partner (Mark) and his poodles (George and Ira).  Jeff is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.
